Heilongjiang Tongjiang Port helps China-Europe freight trains improve both quantity and quality

Tongjiang Railway Port is an important window for my country's border opening. It is located in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province and is a national first-class port. The railway transportation distance from this port to the hinterland of Europe is shortened by 809 kilometers compared with Suifenhe Railway Port, and the transportation time is saved by 10 hours.

"Entering and exiting through Tongjiang Port reduces transportation costs while greatly improving transportation efficiency." Wu Jian, assistant general manager of Suifenhe Branch of Sinotrans Northeast Co., Ltd., said that in 2023, the company will set up an office at Tongjiang Port. At present, it serves 7 train platforms including Changsha North, Puhe, and Xinxiangfang, and has cumulatively served 96 trains with a total of 11,000 standard containers.

In order to serve the China-Europe Express well, Tongjiang North Station has set up a special working group to facilitate the organization of empty car transportation, which greatly shortens the train operation cycle. Zhang Mingji, deputy stationmaster of Tongjiang North Station, told reporters: "We organized the station shunting team to re-arrange and re-arrange the trains to ensure the orderly reloading of trains in response to the problems of insufficient empty cars and scattered arrivals and inconsistent vehicle authorization." 

In May this year, the capacity expansion and reconstruction project of the Jiamusi-Tongjiang Railway officially started. The line passes through the Sanjiang Plain and is 258.25 kilometers long. It is a trunk railway that mainly transports freight and takes passenger transport into consideration. After the full line is opened to traffic, it will effectively expand the container operation area and reloading capacity of Tongjiang North Station, increase the train throughput capacity of the line by 3 times, and further enhance the foreign trade transportation capacity of bulk commodities such as coal and iron ore at the port.
