Transport along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor from Xinjiang, China to Italy has resumed

The container train will pass through the Horgos-Atenkoli railway port on the China-Kazakhstan border and arrive at Aktau port on the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan. At the Port of Aktau, the containers will be loaded onto feeder ships owned by the Kazakh Shipping Line (LLP "NMSK Kazmortransflot') and transported to the Alyat Port in Baku, Azerbaijan. The container train will then travel along the Azerbaijan-Georgia Railway and arrive in Georgia. Port Poti.

After arriving at the Port of Poti and undergoing port operations, the containers containing tomato paste will be loaded onto COSCO Shipping Lines ships, and then transferred along the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea to the Port of Naples in Italy via the Port of Piraeus in Greece.

The estimated transportation time of the train from Jinghe Station to Poti Port is 11 days. A single transport document - the SMGS consignment note - will be used throughout this rail-sea intermodal transport route.

It is worth noting that Kazakhstan railway experts have formulated a special timetable for container trains along the route from Atenkoli Station to Aktau Port. According to this timetable, the speed of container trains is approximately 1,050 kilometers per day, which is equal to that of block trains. Complete this section (3128 kilometers) within 72 hours. Azerbaijan and Georgian railways also operate similar train timetables.

Service providers on the entire train route from Artenkoli station to Poti Port are members of the International Alliance of Trans-Caspian Transport Operators (subsidiaries of permanent members of the Trans-Caspian Association) - KTZ Express, ADY Container, GR Logistics&Terminlas.

In the coming week, another ketchup train is scheduled to depart from Urumqi on the trans-Caspian route to Italy. In addition, two container trains will be launched in May and June this year, and the number of subsequent departures will be further increased.

Since 2018 to the present, the Trans-Caspian Transport Association has had close and successful cooperation with Xinjiang COSCO Shipping Container Lines Co., Ltd. on the railway and maritime intermodal transport projects along the Trans-Caspian route from Xinjiang, China to Italy. During the cooperation period, more than 100 ketchup container trains were organized and successfully implemented along the Trans-Caspian Corridor.
