New Channel for China-Russia Logistics and Transportation

Gao Shixian, Economic Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, pointed out in the ceremony that China-Russia container liner operation along the Arctic shipping route is of great significance for expanding the scale of trade, vigorously developing the logistics system of connectivity, consolidating all-round cooperative partnership, and promoting exchanges and high-quality cooperation in the field of technology and innovation;

Zhou Liqun said in his speech that the opening of this regularized transportation channel for Sino-Russian container liners along the Arctic waterway will improve the status quo in which the existing transportation capacity of the two countries cannot effectively meet the growing logistics and transportation needs of the two countries.

It will play an important role in the security of the logistics and transportation channel and the development of China-Russia economic and trade cooperation, and will help the scale of China-Russia economic and trade cooperation to leap to a new level.

Panov, the special representative for Arctic development of Rosatom, said that the launch of the container liner on the China-Russia Arctic route has opened up a new logistics corridor for bilateral trade.

The opening of this logistics route quickly solves the current Russia-China logistics problems of long cycle and insufficient capacity, and a number of enterprises are greatly interested in the transportation capacity of the Arctic route from July to November sailing period.

The new route of Russia-China logistics cooperation will lead to the new development of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and the early completion of the 200 billion U.S. dollars trade target set by the heads of Russia and China.

Kirillova, head of the joint project "Eurasian Agro-Logistics" of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, said in her speech that it is of great significance that a container liner transportation route to China has been officially opened on the Arctic route.

At the same time, the Arctic route is a shorter, cheaper and safer shipping route than the traditional route through the Suez Canal. With the development of the Arctic route, the two-way logistics efficiency of energy products and agricultural products between Russia and China is expected to be significantly improved, and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries will gain a new impetus for development.
