ONE establishes new company

ONE DEJIMA CO will assist in supporting some of the operational functions of ONE's Singapore headquarters, including network management and accounting for the country office, market research and information analysis for the container ship business, and human resources support. The goal is to expand ONE's global network and contribute to the revitalization of the Japanese region.

ONE previously established the Advanced Ocean Container Transport Engineering Laboratory (AOCTEL) in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, to cultivate professional and technical talents. 

In September this year, ONE also revealed that it expects to recruit 500 employees for its global headquarters and regional headquarters in the next five years.

In March this year, ONE held the "Container Transport Summit" in Nagasaki. A spokesman for ONE said that Nagasaki City is the center of shipbuilding-related industries and the shipping industry and has a high affinity with the shipping industry. He has high hopes for the outstanding young people in Nagasaki, saying that if they have a certain level of English, they can achieve global success.Although ONE is jointly funded and established by Japan's three major shipping companies Kawasaki Kisen, Mitsui & Co., and Nippon Yusen Line, it is headquartered in Singapore.

Recently, a 24,000TEU ship commissioned by ONE to be built by Japan's JMU Shipyard was launched. However, because the ship will operate the Asia-Europe route and will not call at any port in Japan, it has received negative comments from Japanese netizens. 

Official data shows that ONE’s business currently covers 47 countries and regions around the world, with 211 offices and 7,736 employees. Its global headquarters is in Singapore, with regional headquarters in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil.

As of December 14, 2023, ONE's total shipping capacity reached 1,782,283TEU, with 231 operating ships, including 92 owned ships and 139 leased ships, ranking sixth in global shipping capacity.
