In August 2023, the global liner punctuality rate decreased by 0.9% from the previous month to 63.2%. With the exception of May's increase, on-time rates have been within 2 percent per month since March 2023.

Program reliability improved by 17% compared to the same period last year. The average arrival delay for LATE ships increased by 0.07 days to 4.67 days.
"Despite the monthly increase, the average delay for late arriving ships was still 1.23 days lower than the same period last year," noted Alan Murphy, CEO of Sea-Intelligence.

MSC was among the top 14 most reliable carriers in August, with an on-time rate of 70.9%, followed by Maersk and Hamburg South America at 70%.
In addition, CMA CGM is the only carrier with an on-time performance rate of 60-70%. The other eight shipping companies have an on-time rate of 50%-60%, of which HMM and Yangming Shipping are below 50% and 47.3%, respectively.

In August 2023, only three of the top 14 carriers recorded a monthly increase in punctualtime rates, with OOCL Posting the largest increase of 2.8%. Compared to the same period last year, all 14 carriers achieved double-digit growth, with MSC increasing the most at 26.8%.
