The establishment of the company can not only effectively improve COSCO Shipping Group's digital "end-to-end" service capability of container transportation in South America, promote the comprehensive service capacity building of overseas supply chain from the aspects of trailer, warehousing, customs, etc., but also effectively coordinate and integrate the resources of COSCO Shipping Group's professional companies in South America to create "customized" products for customers. On September 15, local time, the inaugural ceremony of COSCO Shipping's first self-operated "Europe-South America East" container liner route was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the evening of the same day, the "New Nantong" cargo ship, which carried out the first voyage, departed from the port of Rio de Janeiro.

Ge Heyue, deputy general manager of COSCO Shipping consolidation, introduced that the route will carry out weekly service, providing 3,000 standard shipping space per class, focusing on the eastern South American countries including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and other European countries, providing more schedule options for customers in the two regions, promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two places and ensuring the stability of the supply chain. The birth of the new route reflects COSCO Shipping's determination to contribute to the economic development of Brazil and other countries in South America.

Alvaro Savio, director of the Port Authority of Rio de Janeiro, said in a speech at the inaugural ceremony that the opening of this route will increase the flow of goods in and out of the port of Rio, bring more income to the state of Rio, and also facilitate the export of commodities from the neighboring state of Minas Gerais.

Kathleen Garcia, deputy Director of the Department of Economic Development of the state of Minas Gerais, said that the opening of the route is of great significance to the state of Minas Gerais, which is located in the hinterland but has a growing import and export demand, and more locally produced high-quality goods will be sent to consumers through the inland channel and the sea transport channel. In addition, the participation of Chinese shipping companies in the operation of inland corridors in Brazil will bring confidence for more Chinese companies to invest in the state.

On the same day, COSCO Shipping also released Brazil's first inland channel service product. According to reports, the product integrates the railway transfer, storage, distribution, customs and other supply chain nodes in Rio de Janeiro state and Minas Gerais state, providing integrated logistics solutions, will help reduce comprehensive logistics costs and improve efficiency.
