Sea-Intelligence has released the 144th edition of its Global Liner Punctuality (GLP) report, which includes liner reliability data through July 2023. The report analyzes the punctuality rates of 34 independent trade routes and more than 60 shipping lines through in-depth research, and Sea-Intelligence's press release covers the global highlights of the GLP report.
The on-time rate in July 2023 remained unchanged month-on-month at 64.2%, slightly below the peak level reached in May 2023. However, the on-time rate in July 2023 was still 23.8 percentage points higher compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, the report showed that the average delay time for evening vessels decreased by 0.21 days month-on-month to 4.59 days.That was the first big increase this year, after holding steady at 4.37 days for the previous two months. Despite the monthly increase, the average delay was still 1.85 days longer than the same period last year.

In July 2023, MSC was ranked among the top 14 most reliable shipping companies with an on-time rate of 71.5%, followed by Maersk and Hamburg Line (69.8%).
MSC is the only shipping company with an on-time rate of more than 70%, while six airlines (including Maersk, Hamburg Sud, Mansea, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and Estar) have an on-time rate of between 60% and 70%. The punctuality rate of the remaining seven shipping companies is between 50% and 60%, Yangming Shipping is the lowest punctuality rate, only 51.3%.
Nine of the top 14 operators achieved month-on-month growth in July 2023, with Wanhai recording the largest increase of 9.7 percentage points.
However, on a year-on-year level, all 14 operators achieved double-digit improvements, with Wanhai seeing the largest improvement at 36.6 percentage points.
In May 2023, global schedule reliability improved significantly as Danish giant Maersk regained its position as the most reliable airline.
